One‐Step Electrodeposition of Multi‐element Doped Hydroxyapatite Nanocoating Leading to Enhanced Cytocompatible and Antibacterial Properties of Titanium Implants

Abstract: The introduction of trace elements into hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings has been widely used for antimicrobial and biocompatible modification of metal implants. In this study, a multifunctional coating of HA co-doped with Cu 2 + , Zn 2 + , Sr 2 + and F À (CuZnSrFHA) was synthesized on titanium substrate by onestep electrodeposition technology. The CuZnSrFHA consisted of nanoscale needle-like crystals with low roughness and poor hydrophilicity. However, it can continuously release Cu 2 + , Zn 2 + and Sr 2 + within… Show more

“…Various metal groups have been studied including NiÀ P, NiÀ PÀ W, Ag/Pd, NiÀ P/Sn, Cu/Ag, etc. [61][62][63][64][65][66] These studies show that electrodeposited coatings greatly improve the corrosion properties of the substrate. Two processes under this type of coating are -Electrolytic deposition and Electrophoretic deposition.…”

“…Alternatively, it is a metal deposition process in which metal cations from the solution are deposited on the surface of the substrate connected to the cathode by the passage of an electric current. Various metal groups have been studied including Ni−P, Ni−P−W, Ag/Pd, Ni−P/Sn, Cu/Ag, etc [61–66] . These studies show that electrodeposited coatings greatly improve the corrosion properties of the substrate.…”
