ONO pincer‐type palladium(II) complexes of heterocyclic hydrazone: Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation

Abstract: Two new Pd(II) complexes of N′‐(4‐(diethylamino)‐2‐hydroxybenzylidene)furan‐2‐carbohydrazide were synthesized and characterized using various spectral methods. The structure of one of the complexes was determined using single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. DNA and protein binding affinities of the synthesized compounds were examined using UV–visible and fluorescence titration method. In addition, the in vitro cytotoxicity of the compounds was evaluated against A549 (lung cancer) and MCF7 (breast cancer) cell lines… Show more

“…Comparison of the previous works for the synthesis of important N ‐acylhydrazones such as 3 a , 3 l and 5 a , reported as chemosensors for the detection of F − , [19,22] CN −[19] or Al 3+ ions, [19,21] and 3 o , the Pd(II) complex of which showed anticancer activity, [60] indicated that the solid‐state melt reaction under catalyst‐ and solvent‐free conditions is superior to other reported conditions (Table 4). We were able to provide the excellent yields of the products 3 a , 3 l , 3 o and 5 a with shorter reaction times (entries 1–4).…”

“…Macrocyclic peptide ligands that have more donor atoms linked to the ring have a great interest because of their affinity for binding and conveying metal ions. [ 9,10 ] The synthesis of macrocyclic complexes [ 2,11–14 ] has continuously investigated due to their applications in fundamental and applied sciences [ 14–16 ] and a huge impact on cancer chemotherapy due to their anticancer activity [ 1,2 ] and in the coordination chemistry. [ 17,18 ]…”

“…While formation of a carbon-palladium bond provides stability, replacing carbon with other elements such as Si, P, N have been shown to lead to signicant changes in reactivity and an lead to signicant developments in catalysis 4,8,[21][22][23][24][25][26][27] and cytotoxicity studies. 18,20,[28][29][30][31][32] A key factor in reactivity is the general lability of the fourth coordination site. For instance, the nature of the monodentate ligand (L) at the fourth coordination site has been shown to provide remarkable control over the electronic structures of palladium and platinum complexes with NCN pincer ligands.…”
