Operating Room Traffic in Total Joint Arthroplasty

Abstract: Background: Periprosthetic joint infection remains a devastating complication of total joint arthroplasty (TJA). The literature suggests that unnecessary operating room (OR) traffic increases the risk of surgical site infection by increasing bacterial load in the OR.
