Optical absorption and photoluminescence studies of gold nanoparticles deposited on porous silicon

Abstract: We present an investigation on a coupled system consists of gold nanoparticles and silicon nanocrystals. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) embedded into porous silicon (PSi) were prepared using the electrochemical deposition method. Scanning electron microscope images and energy-dispersive X-ray results indicated that the growth of AuNPs on PSi varies with current density. X-ray diffraction analysis showed the presence of cubic gold phases with crystallite sizes around 40 to 58 nm. Size dependence on the plasmon abso… Show more

“…However, the Si intensity for sample which was annealed at 300°C decreased slightly, that could be due to the centrifugal effect of spin coating PMSSQ layer. The average crystallite size was calculated using the Scherrer equation [19,20] (Eq. 1) using the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the Al orientation.…”

“…In the literature, there are some reports regarding fluorescence of the Au NPs solutions or for Au NPs deposited on different substrates, but we did not find any reference for the emission characteristics of Au NPs embedded into a polymer matrix. It seems that the surface oscillation of free electrons of Au NPs caused a local electric field, and when an incident beam hits the surface of the materials with such NPs appears the phenomena of photoluminescence emission coming from the surface plasmon excitation and locally enhancing of electromagnetic field near Au NPs . The fluorescence spectra of our films with Au NPs (F1÷F3 + Au) were measured with an excitation wavelength of 535 nm, and are displayed in Figure (b).…”

“…Кроме того, на практике активно ведутся поиски создания композиционных материалов на основе PSi, содержащие наночастицы благородных металлов: Au [12], Pt [13] и Ag [14]. Задачей данного направления, в частности, является повышение эффективности проявления оптических свойств PSi.…”
