Optical analog CATV system conveying 100 channels in a 1.5-GHz subcarrier with the use of the AM-VSB format

Abstract

It is shown that a system using a subcarrier located in the I-2-GHz runge and the AM-VSB format may economically reach a 100-channel capacity over a single fiber. Expected performance is such that when all impairments, such as nonlinear distoriion, shot noise, and intensity noise, are added together, a CNR (cartier-to-noise ratio) of better than 52 dB is obtained. 0 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
