Optical properties of ZnS/Ag/ZnS transparent conductive sandwich structures investigated by spectroscopic ellipsometry

Abstract: Transparent and conductive ZnS (32 nm)/Ag (16 nm)/ZnS (32 nm) (ZAZ) sandwich structures are deposited on BK7 substrates by vacuum thermal evaporation. Transparent conductive films have unique characteristics such as low resistivity, high optical transmittance in the visible region and high absorption in the ultraviolet regions. The structure of the films is determined by in situ HT-XRD method. The optical properties of the films are ascertained by UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The refractive index n and the extinc… Show more

“…Transparent conducting (TC) films are extensively used for a variety of applications in optoelectronic devices, such as light emitting diodes (LED), energy-efficient windows, solar cells, thin film transistors and flat panel displays [1][2][3][4]. Indium tin oxide (ITO), as the most widely used TC material, has been investigated extensively.…”

“…The optical constants and thicknesses of the films deposited at various RF power values were estimated using spectroscopic ellipsometry. The measured ellipsometric parameters are usually expressed as the polarization angle,  , and phase delay,  [40], which occur when the measurement beam interacts with the sample. In the present study, an analysis of the ellipsometric data was performed using the Delta Psi software and the double layer Sellmeier model [16] (Fig.…”

“…22 By optimizing these structures, a selective transparent effect can be obtained in the visible region by suppressing reflection from the metal layer. 23 ITO/metal/ITO multilayers structures have gained a lot of interest to fulfill the growing need for high-performance TCO electrodes. For these multilayer structures, interlayers such as Au, Ag, and Cu have recently been stated to have a transmittance of more than 87% and sheet resistance of less than 10 Ω/□.…”
