Optimization and resilience of complex supply-demand networks

Abstract: Supply-demand processes take place on a large variety of real-world networked systems ranging from power grids and the internet to social networking and urban systems. In a modern infrastructure, supply-demand systems are constantly expanding, leading to constant increase in load requirement for resources and consequently, to problems such as low efficiency, resource scarcity, and partial system failures. Under certain conditions global catastrophe on the scale of the whole system can occur through the dynamic… Show more

“…Projection of ADC i on each node i with its color strength proportional to 1 − ADC i is shown in Figure 4. Clearly, the low degree nodes (in dark red) are likely to undermine power grid stability [33,34]. (ii) Next we seek to decarbonize the power plants.…”

“…This focus is intended to address the evolving nature of systems, and adaptation to conditions such as loss of confidentiality or network unavailability etc. Most cyber resilience works have focused on the planning and design stage, such as [8,17,19,22]. Additionally, papers considering reactive response and recovery apply to narrow settings which do not apply to our work.…”
