Torsional vibration causes failure of the lathe chuck, which can cause hazardous situations on the shop floor. The design of the lathe chuck has a rugged structure which causes cascading failure of lathe spindle assembly. However, the operational stability also decreases. This study aims to obtain the effect of dynamics characteristics like natural frequency of the lathe machine chuck and to propose an effect of modified design of the lathe machine chuck through the target of improving the performance of the lathe chuck and minimizing the vibration effect on the lathe chuck. Also observing the total deformation in the model. A finite element model of the lathe machine chuck has been constructed in the mode analysis to regulate the dynamic properties, deflection and instability of the system. The three-dimensional solid model has been constructed for analysis. In this study, the use of ANSYS workbench software is helpful to solve the case and obtain the deformation.
