Optimizing the Management of Cadmium Bioremediation Capacity of Metal-Resistant Pseudomonas sp. Strain Al-Dhabi-126 Isolated from the Industrial City of Saudi Arabian Environment

Abstract: In this study, 23 bacterial strains were isolated from a Cadmium (Cd) contaminated soil in the industrial city, Riyadh of Saudi Arabia. Among these isolates six strains were found to withstand cadmium contamination and grow well. From the six isolates Pseudomonas sp. strain Al-Dhabi-122–127 were found to resist cadmium toxicity to a higher level. The isolates were subjected to biochemical and 16S rDNA gene sequence characterization to confirm their identification. The bacterial strain Al-Dhabi-124 showed 1.5 t… Show more

“…The study found that the application of B. subtilis in the rhizosphere microbiota caused significant changes, e.g., enrichment of the population of phylum Proteobacteria [ 96 ], which includes bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas. An increase in the abundance of this genus could also enhance bioremediation efficiency [ 138 ]. Furthermore, for Cd bioremediation, bacteria of the Bacillus genus could also be used with other bacteria.…”

“…Heavy metal absorptions in vegetables and nutrition have contrary relationships that influence the various portions of vegetables (protein, fat, and carbohydrate) [11,12]. Many studies have been conducted on heavy metal pollution in developed countries' food chains [13][14][15][16]. However, some studies have been conducted in developing regions [17][18][19][20].…”

“…In the WHLHL group, we found that there was a much higher abundance of Flavobacterium than in the WHL group and the WZN group. It has previously been documented that Flavobacterium plays an important role in the degradation of heavy metals (Al-Dhabi et al, 2019) and organic pollutants (Wan et al, 2019), which we speculate may be an important reason for the better water quality of the WHLHL group. Thiobacillus microbes differ greatly in their abundance, which are also much more abundant in sediments than in water samples.…”
