Organic–inorganic hybrid boron‐containing phenol–formaldehyde resin/SiO2 nanocomposites

Abstract: The organic–inorganic hybrid boron‐containing phenol–formaldehyde (BPFR) resin/SiO2 nanocomposites was synthesized in‐situ from boric acid, phenol, and tetramethoxysilane. The structure of BPFR modified and the distributions of silicon element were studied by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, energy dispersive X‐ray spectrometry, and transmission electron microscope, respectively. The glass transition temperature (Tg) was determined by torsional braid analysis. The results show that silicon element dist… Show more

“…Another difference is that there are two weak absorption peaks at 890 cm −1 and 677cm −1 in curve a, which corresponds to stretching vibration of v BOSi and in‐plane shear vibration of δ BOSi, respectively . These results suggest that boron atom has been successfully doped into the silicone resin chain in the form of SiOB bond by the method of hydrolysis‐polycondensation …”

“…Inorganic‐organic hybrid materials have been extensively studied due to their strong chemical bonds like Si‐N, B‐N and B‐O . The polymers can also be used in the fields of coatings, electron, rocketry, and construction . Therefore, these kinds of hybrid materials have good application prospects and research significance.…”

“…We have reported the synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid boron-containing phenolformaldehyde resin/SiO 2 nanocomposites, but it is not contained boron-nitrogen coordination structure (Gao et al 2008). Wang D. C. et al had reported the preparation and thermal stability of general boron-containing phenolic resin/clay nanocomposites (Wang et al 2008).…”
