Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important crop in Argentina. Aspergillus section Flavi can infect this crop at the pre-harvest stage, and the harvested grains can be contaminated with aflatoxins (AFs). During the production of bioethanol from maize, AF levels can increase up to three times in the final co-products, known as, dry and wet distiller’s grain with solubles (DDGS and WDGS), intended for animal feed. Fungal enzymes like laccases can be a useful tool for reducing AF contamination in the co-products obtained from this process. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the ability of laccase enzymes included in enzymatic extracts (EE) produced by different species in the Basidiomycota phylum to reduce AF (AFB1 and AFB2) accumulation under the conditions of in vitro assays. Four laccase activities (5, 10, 15, and 20 U/mL) exerted by nine isolates were evaluated in the absence and presence of vanillic acid (VA), serving as a laccase redox mediator for the degradation of total AFs. The enzymatic stability in maize steep liquor (MSL) was confirmed after a 60 h incubation period. The most effective EE in terms of reducing AF content in the buffer was selected for an additional assay carried out under the same conditions using maize steep liquor obtained after the saccharification stage during the bioethanol production process. The highest degradation percentages were observed at 20 U/mL of laccase enzymatic activity and 1 mM of VA, corresponding to 26% for AFB1 and 26.6% for AFB2. The present study provides valuable data for the development of an efficient tool based on fungal laccases for preventing AF accumulation in the co-products of bioethanol produced from maize used for animal feed.

RESUMOEste trabalho tem como objetivo analisar como estão inseridos os projetos de pesquisa do Programa BIOEN -FAPESP dentro da linha de fomento Auxílio à Pesquisa -Programa BIOEN -Regular. Para a realização deste trabalho, foram levantadas as informações disponíveis na biblioteca virtual da Fapesp dentro do Programa BIOEN todos os projetos em execução. Para contextualizar o tema, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre o setor sucroenergético com o proposito de identificar as áreas de atuação dos projetos dentro da cadeia produtiva (campo, indústria e logística). Como resultado, foi percebido que há baixos investimentos em algumas áreas da cadeia sucroenergética, mas com maior enfoque de projetos na etapa campo e na etapa da indústria, havendo espaço para pesquisas com enfoque na logística da cadeia.Palavras chave: Bioenergia, Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento, Cadeia Sucroenergética. To conduct this article, we sought in the virtual library within the BIOEN FAPESP Program, all projects for implementation and analysis was also performed a literature search to contextualize the sugarcane industry. As a result of this analysis, realized that there was little investment in some sectors of sugarcane chain, so there is room for more research in these areas, moreover, was to highlight the fact that a balance between the number of projects on stage and in the field occur step industry.

Objetivou-se neste trabalho comparar o efeito do uso de fertilizante organofosfatado e torta de filtro com fontes minerais na produtividade de biomassa, características agronômicas e tecnológicas da cana-planta e o retorno econômico obtido. O experimento foi instalado em Iturama/MG, em delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados com cinco repetições, sendo os tratamentos: 1 = N-P-K (27, 135 e 108 kg ha-1 respectivamente), ou seja, 450 kg ha-1 da fórmula 6-30-24; 2 = N-P-K (60, 120 e 140 kg ha-1); 3 = N-P-K (14, 84 e 42 kg ha-1); 4 = 700 kg ha-1 de fertilizante organofosfatado (equivalente a 14, 70 e 70 kg ha-1 N-P-K); 5 = 700 kg ha-1 de fertilizante organofosfatado + 10 t ha-1 de torta de filtro; 6 = N-P-K (27, 135 e 108 kg ha-1) + 10 t ha-1 de torta de filtro; 7 = N-P-K (60, 135 e 108 kg ha-1); 8 = 10 t ha-1 de torta de filtro + 108 kg ha-1 de K; 9 = 10 t ha-1 de torta de filtro + N + K (27 e 108 kg ha-1) e 10 = 10 t ha-1 de torta de filtro + N-P-K (30, 50 e 110 kg ha-1). Concluiu-se que as diversas doses e fontes de fósforo estudadas não interferiram na produtividade de biomassa da cana-planta; a torta de filtro proporcionou uma menor porcentagem de falhas de colmos na linha de cana-de-açúcar e o maior retorno econômico obtido foi com o uso conjunto da torta de filtro e o fertilizante organofosfatado em cana-planta.
