“…∑HCH are higher than those from the USA (JohnsonRestrepo et al 2007), Germany (Zietz et al 2008), Sweden (Glynn et al 2011), and Norway (Polder et al 2008) and were comparable with those in the UK (Kalantzi et al 2004), South Korea (Fujii et al 2011), Japan (Fujii et al 2012), and Turkey (Cok et al 2012) (Table 3), but ∑HCH in this study were lower than those in Hanoi, Vietnam (Haraguchi et al 2009), Romania (Cioroiu et al 2010), Egypt (Al-Rahman 2012), and Tunisia (Hassine et al 2012). Levels of HCB in this study were about six times lower than those in Tunisia (Hassine et al 2012) and In South Korea, Japan, USA, Sweden, Germany, UK, Romania, and Shanghai in this study, ∑HCH=α-HCH+β-HCH+γ-HCH+δ-HCH.…”

“…Organochlorine pesticides such as DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) have been banned for over 30 years (since 1985), while HCHs (hexachlorocyclohexanes) have been banned since 2002. Nevertheless, the results of a study of Cioroiu et al [38] showed the presence of persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic HCB (hexachlorobenzene), DDTs and HCHs in colostrum samples at concentrations that can impose public health concerns. Ene et al [39] reported that, in southeast Romania, the level of PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), HCH, and DDT contamination is high according to the Romanian soil pollution legislation, mainly because of agricultural activities.…”

“…Human exposure to OCPs is through many routes: breathing OCP-contaminated air, working in or living beside OCP factories, drinking and taking a bath with OCP-polluted source water, eating vegetables and grains containing OCP residues, and eating especially fish and animal meats [140]. OCPs accumulated in the human body could cause various negative effects such as immunological function damage, endocrine disruption, female spontaneous abortions and preterm, and children neurodevelopmental delays [141].…”
