Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Evrensel Değerlere İlişkin Algıları:Metafor Analizi

Abstract

This study aims to identify the metaphors for the use of secondary school students in explaining perceptions of universal values. This study is a qualitative research in the scanning model. In the process of collecting and interpreting data, phenomenology that one of qualitative research methods was used. Application was made with a total of 400 students, 50 males and 50 females from 5 th , 6 th , 7 th and 8 th grades, who were studying in 7 secondary schools located in the border of the city of Kırsehir in the first semester of 2016-2017 academic year. A total of 320 students' activity papers 40 girls and 40 boys from each class were included in the study.As a data collection tool of the research, "Student Metaphors for Universal Values" developed by researchers were used. There are 11 questions in the questionnaire, which is developed in line with the literature search. The analysis of the documents was made by the content analysis method and the obtained findings were interpreted by transforming into tables. They developed 105 metaphors for 9 different values in total. 30 most metaphors for love value, 6 at least metaphors for patriotism has been developed. 28 metaphors for honesty value, 17 metaphors for scientific value and responsibility, 16 metaphors for freedom value, 13 metaphors for respect value, 10 different metaphors for peace and values of charity was developed. A total of 105 metaphors for 9 values are 78 different from each other and 27 are commonly produced metaphors. The most different metaphor for honesty value (16) and at least the different metaphor for peace value (4) was produced. Water metaphor is a common metaphor for 6 other values except for values of responsibility, patriotism and benevolence.Key Words: Universal values, metaphor, social studies, secondary school students' Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Evrensel Değerlere İlişkin Algıları:Metafor Analizi ÖZETOrtaokul öğrencilerinin evrensel değerlere yönelik algılarını açıklamada kullandıkları metaforları tespit etmeyi amaçlayan bu çalışma, tarama modelinde nitel bir araştırmadır. Veri toplama ve yorumlama sürecinde nitel araştırma yöntemleri desenlerinden biri olan fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılı I. döneminde Kırşehir İli merkez sınırları içerisinde yer alan 7 ortaokulda öğrenim görmekte olan 5., 6., 7. ve 8. sınıfın her birinden 50 erkek 50 kız olmak üzere her sınıftan 100 öğrenci olup toplamda 400 öğrenci ile uygulama yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya her sınıftan 40 olmak üzere toplamda 160 kız yine her sınıftan 40 erkek olmak üzere toplamda 160 erkek öğrenciden elde edilen etkinlik kâğıdı dâhil edilmiştir. Araştırmanın veri toplama aracı olarak, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen "Evrensel Değerlere Yönelik Öğrenci Metaforları Yapılandırılmış Formu" kullanılmıştır.
