Osteo‐Metabolic Abnormality in Epileptic Patients with Long‐Term Anticonvulsant Therapy –In Relation to Vitamin D 3‐Fraction–

Abstract: As an ill effect of anticonvulsants after a long-term treatment, osteo-metabolic abnormality was noticed, and yet no full clarification has been made. Recently, we have measured the Vitamin D 3-fraction: 25-OHD,, 1-25 (OH)2D3, 24-25 (OH),D, and quantified the atrophic lesion of the bone by the microdensitometry method (hereinafter called MD method) for the outpatients, and found some interesting findings as follows.
