“…The prognosis of patients receiving MV is influenced by many factors, including age, Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score (or other measure of functional status), severe sepsis, acute lung injury (ALI), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), acute renal, cardiovascular or hepatic failure, and requirement for neuromuscular blockers or vasopressors.
