Ovarian metastases caused by cholangiocarcinoma: a rare Krükenberg's tumour simulating a primary neoplasm of the ovary: a two-case study

Abstract

Two cases of biliary cholangiocarcinomas simulating an ovarian neoplasia are reported.

Pancreaticobiliary metastasis presenting as primary mucinous ovarian neoplasm: A systematic literature review

Many of these patients did not present with the typical symptoms of jaundice and back pain, but instead with vague symptoms often associated with ovarian malignancy (abdominal pain, abdominal-pelvic mass).…”

Metastatic Cholangiocarcinoma to the Ovary

“…Cholangiocarcinoma is often discovered at advanced stage with poor long-term survival (9). Typically patients present with symptoms of jaundice, pruritis, and cholangitis; however, reports describe rare incidents of cholangiocarcinomas presenting initially as ovarian tumors (3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8). In these reports, the majority of cases demonstrated bilateral ovarian involvement with masses 11.8 cm in mean diameter.…”

“…Cholangiocarcinomas are a rare source of ovarian metastases described in the literature typically only in case reports. Although most reports describe initial presentations similar to that of primary ovarian neoplasms (3)(4)(5)(6), the current case series details 5 cases of known cholangiocarcinoma recurrent in the ovary after completion of initial multimodality therapy involving surgical resection of the primary tumor followed by adjuvant chemotherapy.…”
