Overexpression of Long Non-Coding RNA NNT-AS1 Correlates with Tumor Progression and Poor Prognosis in Osteosarcoma

Abstract: Background/Aims: Increasing evidence demonstrates that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical regulatory roles in cancers, including osteosarcoma. A previous study showed that Nicotinamide Nucleotide Transhydrogenase-antisense RNA1 (NNT-AS1) was aberrantly expressed in several types of cancer. However, the potential biological roles and regulatory mechanisms of NNT-AS1 in osteosarcoma progression remain unknown. Methods: Quantitative RT-PCR was performed to examine the expression of NNT-AS1 in human tiss… Show more

“…LncRNA NNT‐AS1 serves as tumor promotor in various cancers. For example, higher NNT‐AS1 expression was strongly associated with poor prognosis, and NNT‐AS1 knockdown restrained osteosarcoma progression and blocked tumor growth . NNT‐AS1 functioned as an oncogene in gastric cancer progression via sponging miR‐363 .…”

“…Over a decade ago, little was known about this RNA. However, with the rapid development of technology, more and more evidence indicated that this non-coding RNA has a vital role in the development of many tumors, including osteosarcoma [10][11][12][13].…”

“…Aberrant expression or functional abnormalities of LncRNAs have been linked with numerous human diseases, such as aging [10], degenerative disease [11], and cancer [12,7,13,14]. Recently, a pivotal role of lncRNA in tumor biological characteristics including proliferation, cell cycle arrest, invasion, migration [15], autophagy [16], and drug resistance [17] has also been revealed.…”
