Palladium(II) Immobilized Onto the Glucose Functionalized Magnetic Nanoparticle as a New and Efficient Catalyst for the One‐pot Synthesis of Benzoxazoles

Abstract: Funding informationSharif University of Technology (SUT) Palladium(II) have been immobilized into the nano magnetic Fe 3 O 4 which was functionalized with glucose in order to achieve a one-pot synthesis of 2substituted benzoxazole derivatives with high yields in the diverse range of organic solvents. The nano catalyst is highly dispersive in polar solvents and can be easily recovered and reused for 6 runs without significant loss of its activity. Finally, the catalyst was fully characterized by FT-IR, TGA, CHN… Show more

“…Among the methods utilized for the formation of benzoxazole rings, the synthesis of a 2‐substituted derivative from 2‐aminophenol as starting material stands out. Many studies in the literature point out to obtain a high yield benzoxazole ring (Scheme 1A) [15–27] . In addition to the necessity in improving the reaction conditions, it is also essential to place the carbonyl group in the C‐2 position of the oxazole ring instead of the aryl ring substitution, which will not allow much further derivatizations easily.…”

“…The magnetic nanoparticle (Fe 3 O 4 ) was synthesized using the co-precipitation approach 101 , 102 . After synthesizing it, Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 (1 g) was dispersed in dry EtOH and NH 4 OH (2 mL) was added to the mixture.…”

“…[ 18 ] Most of the reported procedures have used copper [ 18d,e ] or other catalysts. Palladium‐catalysed synthesis of benzoxazoles from aldehydes and o ‐aminophenol was reported by Moghaddam et al [ 19 ] But the reaction took a long time (18 h) for completion. In palladium‐catalysed reactions, generally palladium exist as Pd(0) and Pd(II), [ 20 ] although the utility of Pd (IV) [ 21 ] has been steadily emerging in its own right.…”
