Palladium supported on hollow magnetic mesoporous spheres: a recoverable catalyst for hydrogenation and Suzuki reaction

Abstract: A high-performance palladium catalyst was developed by covalent binding of a Schiff base ligand, N,N'bis(3-salicylidenaminopropyl)amine (salpr), on the surface of hollow magnetic mesoporous spheres (HMMS) and followed immobilization with Pd(0). The catalyst characterized by TEM, EDX, FT-IR, XRD, VSM, TGA and N 2 adsorption-desorption. The novel catalyst exhibited a high activity in hydrogenation and Suzuki coupling reaction. Furthermore it was easy to be recovered in a facile manner from 10 the reaction mixtur… Show more

“…[81] This catalyst displays high activity in the SMC. In a subsequent study, Ma reported a high-performance palladium catalyst 63 resulting from the covalent anchoring of a Schiff-base ligand, N,N'-bis(3-salicylidenaminopropyl)amine(salpr), on the surface of hollow magnetic mesoporous spheres (HMMS) followed by immobilization of Pd(0) (Scheme 43) [80]. The heterogeneous catalyst could readily be recovered from the reaction mixture and recycled six times without any loss of activity.…”

“…Preparation of hollow magnetic mesoporous spherical catalyst was achieved by Ma and co-workers [ 67 ]. They anchored the Schiff base ligand, N , N′ -bis(3-salicylidenaminopropyl)amine (salpr), on the surface of the hollow magnetic mesoporous spheres (HMMS) and finished the complex formation by treatment of the resulting materials with PdCl 2 ( Scheme 85 ).…”

“…24 Recently considerable improvement has been achieved with the development of several heterogeneous catalysts for mild hydrogenations under H 2 at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. In this respect, heterogeneous catalysts bearing Pd NPs supported on hollow magnetic mesoporous spheres recovered by a silica shell, 25 nitrogen-doped nanobers, 26 porous organic polymers, 27 poly(vinyl)chloride 28 have been reported and allowed efficient hydrogenations of nitroarenes.…”
