“…Unfortunately, children affected by these eruptions are frequently misdiagnosed and often subject to expensive evaluations including invasive and unnecessary procedures (9) . In our study, age distribution of was around 60% at age between 1-10 yrs and this agrees with the results of other researchers who found that papular urticaria predominantly in children aged 0-5 yrs (10) . In this study gender distribution of studied patients was around 57% shows that female tendancy of papular urticaria and this agree with other authors, as papular urticaria is more common in females than males (11) .…”

“…And this agrees with this study, as atopic background was present in 60% of patients, and 20% of patients have positive family history of papular urticaria. In this study we estimated the IgE level and we found a boarderline high level in 90% of the patients and that agrees with the results of other researchers who found an increase in IgE level in high percentage of papular urticaria patients (10) . We also determined IL-4 level in papular urticaria patients; however there is no research addressed the same subject.…”

“…The reason for the under nutrition recorded in 41.5% of patients in this study could be due to advanced immunosuppression which could be associated with opportunistic infection. More so, it is documented that disease progression and viral load increments in HIV patients lead to overproduction of cytokines such as TNF that culminates in weight loss [28].…”

“…It has been proven in a study that the absolute eosinophil count (AEC) and the serum IgE levels were elevated in all patients presenting with papular urticaria and tested for the above parameters 1 . Another study revealed a predominant CD4+ positive T cells, eosinophil rich infiltrate and increased IgE response which suggests a Thelper 2 (T-h2) mediated response to the salivary protein 5 .…”

“…The disease is more common in children though adults may also be affected and usually history of atopy in the patient or family members is present. 70% of the individuals with papular urticaria had history of atopy in a study 1 . Children eventually outgrow the disease due to desensitization after multiple exposures 10 .…”
