Paradigm-Shifting Players for IoT: Smart-Watches for Intensive Care Monitoring

Abstract: Abstract. Wearable devices, e.g. smart-watches, are gaining popularity in many fields and in wellness monitoring too. In this paper we propose an IoT application to alert the medical doctor assigned to a critical unit by using a smart-watch. The wearable device improves the efficacy of monitoring patients at risk in hospital units allowing the medical doctor to access information at any time and from any place. A network was built to wirelessly connect bio-sensing platforms, which measure metabolites concentra… Show more

“…However, we compared our system with the others systems proposed through the use of security protocols during the transmission of collecting data to provide better and safer care for patients. Francesca Stradolini et al [30] developed a first architecture for continuous monitoring of anesthesia. But, no cloud integration was provided in this architecture.…”

“…For this purpose, an IoT-enabled ECG monitoring system for cardiac arrhythmia disease di- agnosis was developed. However, [15], [30], and [31] developed a novel m-Health system that can be used to monitor patients wirelessly. Nevertheless, no security protocol has been provided in these studies In our study, we designed a new low-energy consumption, and a very affordable price system capable of performing continuous recording of HRV times series for easy monitoring of the heart rhythm for the detection of arrhythmia.…”

“…Smartphone proves to be inefficient because most of the diabetes patient has high blood pressure and require normal sleep hours to be able to keep their normal health status. Stradolini et al [36] monitor the health status of diabetes patients while on move. The problem experienced with this method is the sensor interference with other devices.…”
