Parametric Analysis of a Two-Shaft Aeroderivate Gas Turbine of 11.86 MW

Abstract: The aeroderivate gas turbines are widely used for power generation in the oil and gas industry. In offshore marine platforms, the aeroderivative gas turbines provide the energy required to drive mechanically compressors, pumps and electric generators. Therefore, the study of the performance of aeroderivate gas turbines based on a parametric analysis is relevant to carry out a diagnostic of the engine, which can lead to operational as well as predictive and/or corrective maintenance actions. “…Most of the researchers studied the performance of different airfoils design and different operational conditions where analyzing the problem was only based on the parameter of first law of thermodynamics. In order to form a deeper understanding, it is necessary to look at the second law of thermodynamics since it has shown very promising result in many applications, such as wind turbine in [56][57][58][59][60][61], and gas turbine in [62][63][64][65][66][67].…”

“…Thus, researchers must take into account the entropy analysis for the Wells turbine while investigating the wave energy extracting performance. Since, it has shown very promising result in many applications, such as wind turbine in [33][34][35][36][37][38] and gas turbine in [39][40][41].…”

“…17 The study assisted efforts to recognize the main sources of losses in the GT engine in the sake of enhancing the performance, sustainability, and improving economic efficiency. Lugo-Leyte et al 18 presented exergetic analysis for a two-shaft aeroderivate GT engine using a computer programming tool to evaluate the irreversibilities and exergetic efficiencies for all components in the system. The results confirm that the combustion chamber has the highest source of irreversibilities, whereas the highest efficiency for the proposed GT engine is achievable at optimal pressure ratio which is adjected 1% lower than the design value.…”
