Four different techniques of parathyroid gland reimplantation into muscle were studied in 38 dogs following total parathyroidectomy. The types of autotransplants were whole gland, minced glandular tissue, thin slices 0.3 mm or less, and thick slices 0.4 mm t o 0.5 mm.The animals were followed for four months. Parathyroid function was evaluated by Serum calcium and phosphorus determinations. Graft sites were extirpated two months after reimplantation and studied histologically. The thin slice technique was found t o be most successful of the four techniques studied.
