“…Thorough investigation into the normal variability of the human cranial morphology, as well as the structure and patterns of its development, are of reasonable research and pragmatic interest for clinical experts involved in dentistry (surgical, orthopedic, general), orthodontics, maxillofacial surgery, neurosurgery, and ophthalmology [9,16,20,24,31,37,49,66].…”

“…Notable is that this study was caried out without taking into account the gnathic and the dental types of dental arches, which determine the major morphometric features of the dental system [26,42,49]. There is reliable data showing that people belonging to the brachygnathic type, have their upper dental arches wider transversally and shorter sagittally, if compared with mesognathic dental arches [35,40,50,52,58]. People with dolichognathic types, however, revealed something completely opposite -upper dental arches shorter in the transversal, and longer in the sagittal, plane, if matched against mesognathic dental arches [32,39,51,57].…”

“…There are some advanced approaches to studying dental and alveolar arches, including cone-beam computed tomography, presented [13,28,39,50]. These approaches are recommended for their use in clinical dentistry to diagnose respective pathologies and guide the treatment choice [33,38,43]. During that, there is no data on the size of the apical bases and their relationship with the width of the dental arch between the canines, which explains the aim of this study.…”
