“…For our thinking, it is possible that cardiac involvement reflects the endothelial damage produced by this condition ( 22 ) but also reflects the inexperience of healthcare system response to a new disease, as well as the delays that could exist in healthcare consultation. We also think that this high proportion of coronary compromise and cardiac involvement could be related to the severity of the diseases because all patients required PICU admission; however, Elilarasi et al ( 23 ) reported 68% of coronary compromise, but only 50% of their patients required PICU; this supports the fact that ethnicity could be involved in this outcome.…”

“…In our experience most of these resolved at 6-wk followup [5]; however, the outcome of coronary abnormalities has not been reported in the present study. In the Elilarasi et al study, 75% (3/4) of children presenting with acute abdomen were operated [4]; this is an alarming observation and reemphasizes the fact that PMIS-TS can present with various gastrointestinal manifestations including acute abdomen; and a high index of suspicion can avoid unwarranted surgical interventions. Another intriguing observation in this series is the presence hypertension observed in one child, although the authors have not discussed the possible reasons for same, it might not be related to PMIS-TS, which typically presents with hypotension.…”
