The purpose in the research to find evidence of whether the use of Hello English (HE) as a medium of instruction in the classroom has a significant impact on students' vocabulary skills in EFL classes. This study uses a qualitative design. To collect data, researchers used questionnaires that have been distributed. The respondent in this research 25 students EFL classroom. Researcher found Hello English to be of interest to students because it can be accessed from smartphones. and using Hello English for smartphone-based learning, students no longer need to carry heavy dictionaries and can more easily learn new words by accessing the Hello English dictionary. The researcher conclude applying Hello English to the EFL classroom makes students interested in learning and more positively responsive to teachers, the second teachers believe that learning with smartphones will increase students' interest in learning. The last student can get used to speaking in English and practice your pronunciation. Students realize how important vocabulary is to understanding conversations

This research aims at designing an Android-based mobile application for language learning (MALL) for the final exam simulation of English subject to junior high school students. The method used in building the application is the software development life cycle (SDLC) with the waterfall model. The name of this application is SOUN that stands for "Soal Ujian Nasional" or the National Examination Questions. Based on the implementation of user design and testing, the Android device request to the server via the internet. Then the web server (PHP) process the request from Android and query the database. The computer then sends data to the Android device via JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). It is as an intermediary between the server and the Android application. Therefore, the user (teacher and students) also can do a test by using the simulation application that runs on the Android platform. The teacher can manage the questions and see the scores that the students have achieved. While the students can practice answering the questions of English exercises independently, anytime and anywhere both online and offline. They can also see the score immediately based on the questions that they answered. They also know the solution, tricks, and tips on doing the exercises by choosing the menu provided. Then, admin plays a role as a server manager, who is in charge to manage the system and questions consisting of CRUD (Create, Read, Update, and Delete). It can be concluded that the use of MALL as the learning media can become one of the alternative English learning models in order to prepare the students for practicing the simulations of the national examination.Keywordsmobile application for language learning (MALL), software development life cycle (SDLC), the simulations of the national examination.

The background of this research is to investigate the urgency of vocabulary as the most important aspect in language. In this research, vocabulary learning will be assisted by using an android application, namely VocApp; (Vocabulary Application). The purpose of this research and development is to (1) identify the needs of vocabulary learning media according to teachers and students, (2) know the principles of developing learning media based on theoretical studies, identify needs and analyze existing learning media, (3) design VocApp learning media based on the results of the analysis of the existing media, (4) test the VocApp learning media (5) Revise the features of the application according to the evaluation of the trial, (6) Disseminate and implement applications for vocabulary learning in the classroom. The method used is research and development. The steps in the research are Needs analysis, Prototyping, Revision Prototype, Developing, Testing, and Deployment. The result indicated there is a significant improvement of students’ skill in vocabulary building by means of VocApp application. This case can be seen from the results of calculations using statistical tools, it is known that t-count is 0.03 which means 0.05. From the results of t-count, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference.
