Pembelajaran Literasi Media Sosial Pada Remaja Melalui Metode Problem Based Learning

Abstract

Abstrak: Indonesia merupakan negara dengan tingkat keberadaban internet paling rendah se-Asia Tenggara. Hal ini menunjukkan pentingnya pemberian literasi media sosial bagi remaja. Untuk itu, Problem BLearning (PBL) dapat digunakan sebagai model pembelajaran karena dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakter remaja dalam menggunakan media sosial, topik yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran literasi media sosial, penerapan PBL dalam literasi media sosial, dan tantangan dalam pembelajaran literasi media sosial menggunakan PBL. Batasan penelitianini adalah menyajikan pandangan argumentatif peneliti mengenai pembelajaran literasi media sosial bagi remaja usia 13–17 tahun berdasarkan kajian pustaka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakter remaja dalam media sosial bersifat positif dan negatif dalam perkembangan fi sik, kognitif, emosional, dan sosial; topik dalam literasi media sosial remaja adalah pengetahuan serta pemahaman mengenai media sosial, mengevaluasi teks dari media sosial, dan memanfaatkan media sosial untuk memproduksi konten; penerapan PBL tepat diterapkan dalam literasi media sosial remaja karena memakai pendekatan konstruktivisme, dapat mengambil kasus dari permasalahan di kehidupan sehari-hari, dan sesuai karakter remaja. Tantangan utama dalam penerapan PBL dalam literasi media sosial pada remaja adalah sikap remaja sehingga dibutuhkan peran pendidik untuk mengatasi sikap remaja tersebut. Saran diberikan kepada pemerintah, pendidik, orang tua, dan remaja untuk bersama-samameningkatkan literasi media sosial remaja. Abstract: Indonesia came last in Southeast Asia in Digital Civility Index survey. The signifi cance of teaching social media literacy to adolescents is demonstrated by this fact. Since it can develop critical thinking skills, Problem Based Learning (PBL) can be used as a learning model. The research aims to fi nd out the character of adolescents in using social media, the topics used in learning of social media literacy for adolescents, the implementation of PBL in social media literacy for adolescents, and the challenges in learning of social media literacy for adolescents by using PBL. The study’s limitation is to present an argumentative view of social media literacy for adolescent aged 13 to 17 years based on literature review. The research method used is qualitative analysis. The results shows that the character of adolescents in using social media has given positive and negative influences for their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development; the topics used in social media literacy for adolescents are the knowledge and understanding of social media, the evaluation of text from social media, and the utilization of social media to produce content; the PBL method can be implement in social media literacy for adolescents because it uses a constructivist approach, based on daily life problems, and matches the character of adolescents; the main challenge in implementing PBL in social media literacy for adolescents is the attitude of adolescents therefore the role of teachers is needed to overcome adolescent’s attitudes. To improve the social media literacy of adole scents, the collaboration of the government, educators, parents, and adolescents is needed.
