Pencegahan Dini Bahaya Kolesterol dan Penyertanya Melalui Pengolahan Limbah Jelantah menjadi Waste Soap Serbaguna

Abstract

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a disease that is very frightening and is still a problem, both in developed and developing countries. In developing countries from 1990 to 2020, the death rate from coronary heart disease will increase by 137% in men and 120% in women. This community service aims to provide insight and knowledge to the people of Lerep Village about the prevention of the dangers of cholesterol and provide soft skills on the use of used used oil waste to become versatile waste soap. The results of surveys and interviews with target partners, namely residents of Lerep Village by random sampling, stated that the use of used cooking oil in Lerep Village, especially in the RT 3 area, was still high. Housewives use bulk cooking oil more often than packaged cooking oil, and use this cooking oil repeatedly. Data and information from Lerep Village officials also stated that the increase in the death rate from stroke had increased in the last two years. The results of the evaluation of participant knowledge before being given socialization (pretest) were 22% good category, 42% adequate category and 36% poor category. While the knowledge of the participants after being given counseling (posttest) had increased. Knowledge related to cholesterol and its companions, changes in the behavior of using used cooking oil and healthy living behavior and processing of used cooking oil after being given counseling were very good category 94.44% and good or poor category 2.78% each. This Community Service Program can be continued and developed with outputs in the form of soap packaging and branding that further increase the promotional value and selling price.AbstrakPenyakit jantung koroner (PJK) merupakan sosok penyakit yang sangat menakutkan dan masih menjadi masalah, baik di negara maju maupun berkembang. Di negara berkembang dari tahun 1990 sampai 2020, angka kematian akibat penyakit jantung koroner akan meningkat 137 % pada laki-laki dan 120% pada wanita. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan serta pengetahuan masyarakat Desa Lerep tentang pencegahan bahaya kolesterol dan memberikan pembekalan softskill tentang pemanfaatan limbah minyak jelantah menjadi waste soap serbaguna. Hasil survey dan wawancara kepada mitra sasaran, yakni warga masyarakat Desa Lerep secara random sampling menyebutkan bahwa penggunaan minyak jelantah di Desa Lerep khususnya di wilayah RT 3 masih tergolong tinggi. Ibu rumah tangga lebih sering menggunakan minyak goreng curah dibandingkan minyak goreng kemasan, serta menggunakan minyak goreng tersebut secara berulang-ulang. Data dan informasi pejabat Desa Lerep juga menyebutkan bahwa kenaikan angka kematian akibat stroke meningkat dalam kurun waktu dua tahun terakhir. Hasil evaluasi pengetahuan peserta sebelum diberikan sosialisasi (pretest) yaitu kategori baik sebesar 22%, kategori cukup 42% dan kategori kurang sebesar 36%. Sedangkan pengetahuan peserta setelah diberikan penyuluhan (postes) mengalami peningkatan. Pengetahuan terkait dengan kolesterol dan penyertanya, perubahan perilaku penggunaan minyak jelantah dan perilaku hidup sehat serta pengolahan minyak jelantah setelah diberikan penyuluhan yaitu kategori sangat baik 94,44% dan kategori baik maupun kurang masing-masing 2,78%. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dapat dilanjutkan dan dikembangkan dengan luaran berupa pembuatan kemasan sabun dan branding yang lebih meningkatkan nilai promosi dan harga jualnya.
