The purpose of this study is to classify student majors to simplify and speed up the determination of the selection of majors so that the process resulting from this selection is more accurate and objective. The design method that will be applied to data mining to determine interests and talents is the C4.5 Decision Tree Algorithm Method. The data used in this research are 331 datasets. The data is classified using the C4.5 Decision Tree Algorithm method. The research results show that the classification of interests and talents can be classified to determine student majors using the C4.5 Algorithm. 2) Of the 331 data divided by 80% training data and 20% testing data, the level of accuracy in the C4.5 Decision Tree Algorithm is 89.39%. So, it can be concluded that the accuracy results are lower than previous studies, which produced an accuracy rate of 100%. This means that by analyzing student interest and aptitude data using C4.5, schools can build a classification model that can assist students in choosing a major that suits their interests and talents thereby increasing the accuracy and efficiency of major selection

Siswa baru memilih jurusan mereka dalam upaya menyelaraskan program akademik mereka dengan minat dan keterampilan masa depan mereka dengan tujuan membentuk lintasan profesional di masa depan. Penentuan jurusan di SMK tidaklah sederhana. Dengan begitu, penentuan jurusan siswa yang diimplementasikan di SMK Plus Al-Hilal Arjawinangun berdasarkan hasil ujian penjurusan. Setelah siswa menyelesaikan Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS), proses penjurusan dilakukan. Banyaknya siswa yang memilih jurusan menghasilkan jumlah data yang cukup banyak dan rumit. Semakin sulit untuk mendapatkan informasi yang berarti dari hasil ujian ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkategorikan jurusan siswa di SMK Plus Al-Hilal Arjawinangun. Metode pada studi ini memakai decision tree algortitma C4.5 dalam melaksanakan klasifikasi. Data mencakup informasi tentang nama siswa, nilai ujian dan atribut lainnya. Setelah pengumpulan data, proses klasifikasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan algoritma C4.5. Langkah pertama dalam penelitian ini adalah melakukan preprocessing data, termasuk penghapusan data yang tidak valid, menambahkan data serta menangani data yang tidak lengkap. Hasil penelitian ini akan membantu dan memberi manfaat untuk sekolah menjadi lebih cepat dalam pengklasifikasian penentuan jurusan siswa SMK Plus Al-Hilal Arjawinangun. Dari pemodelan klasifikasi menggunakan algoritma C4.5 tingkat akurasi mencapai 98.02%, presisi 98.73% dan recall 98.73%.

The selection of majors at SMK Negeri 38 Jakarta currently relies on a single opportunity during registration, without considering various factors that might influence students' choices. This underscores the necessity for developing a decision support system that can aid prospective students in selecting majors aligned with their interests, potentials, and characteristics. The aim of this research is to design and implement a decision support system using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method as an alternative to facilitate a more informed decision-making process. The research methodology involves data collection from prospective students, including personal interests, the average grades from the first to the fifth semester of junior high school, average school examination scores, registration pathways, and percentiles of grades. This data serves as input for the TOPSIS method to generate recommendations for study focus options that suit the characteristics of each prospective student. The research findings indicate that the implementation of a TOPSIS-based decision support system offers a more accurate possibility for major selection, aligning with the potentials and interests of prospective students. This system allows for data filtering and processing to produce recommendations guiding prospective students in choosing a suitable study focus among three available options: Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Fashion Design. Conclusively, the decision support system using the TOPSIS method proves to be an effective solution in aiding new prospective students at SMK Negeri 38 Jakarta in selecting majors aligned with their interests and potentials, thereby reducing the tendency for errors in major selection based on a single registration opportunity.
