Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.)) is one of the herbaceous plants that grow, and flowers throughout the year. Pegagan has been used for hundreds of years, especially in the dermatology, and cosmetology industries. Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.)) has distinctive bioactive components, namely triterpene ester glycoside compounds in the form of asiaticoside, and madecoside as well as triterpene group compounds in the form of asiatic acid, and madecasic acid. There are various extraction methods to produce the following compounds namely, conventional extraction methods, and modern extraction methods. The two methods have differences in the results obtained. Therefore, the difference in the extraction method will determine the result of the difference in the levels of a compound. So that this research was carried out on the effect of Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.)) extraction using a comparison of the Microwave-Assisted Extraction (MAE), and Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE) methods on the total phenol content in the Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.)) extracted. Analysis of the extracteded bioactive content was carried out by analyzing the total phenol content using the Folin-Ciocalteau reagent method and analyzing the data through the Analysis of Response Surface Design expert 11 to see the significance of the research variables. The results obtained from the study are in the form of a comparison of the optimal conditions for the total phenol content, namely, the comparison between the UAE, and MAE methods for Centella asiatica (L.). extracted with ethanol solvent which is more optimal by using the MAE method because in a short time it can produce 1130.7882 mg.

Pluchea indica L. (beluntas) from the Asteraceae is a plant known to be rich in phenolics. Studies on the phenolic content of P. indica stems have not been explored much. The purpose of this study is to qualitatively identify the presence of phenolic compounds and to screen for the radical scavenging ability of DPPH in P. indica stem extracts using the TLC method. Extraction was carried out with the ultrasonic directly and sequentially using 50% ethanol as solvent. Separation was carried out on a silica gel plate GF254 with ethyl acetate: water: formic acid: toluene (20:2:2:1) as the mobile phase. Gallic acid and chlorogenic acid were used as comparisons. Identification of the presence of phenolic using FeCl3 5% as a spray reagent, while screening for radical scavenging activity using DPPH 0.1 mM as a spray reagent. The results showed that the 50% ethanol extracts of P. indica stems, both obtained from direct and stratified extraction, indicated the presence of phenolic compounds as antioxidants. The phenolic compounds detected were identical to gallic acid and chlorogenic acid, respectively, at hRf values of 89.4 and 55.3. The development of phenolic utilization from P. indica stems as a source of antioxidants still needs to be studied.

Background: Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral diseases of all ages.There has been no study that defines the leading cause of RAS. The utilization of binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia) can be beneficial for the treatment of RAS as it acts as an anti-inflammatory and accelerates the proliferation of fibroblasts. The combination between binahong leaves and the mucoadhesive patch will increase the effectiveness of RAS treatment. Method: Literature study through PubMed and Google Scholar databases was conducted using PRISMA flow chart looking for the efficacy of binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia) for mucosa wound healing and mucoadhesive patches for the treatment of RAS. Result: The search results found 31 articles that met the criteria for analysis. Flavonoids and saponins in binahong leaves extract act as an anti-inflammatory and increase the proliferation of wound healing. Mucoadhesive patch formulation can increase the effectiveness of RAS treatment on the mucosa. Conclusion: Binahong leaves extract in the form of mucoadhesive patches can be used as an alternative treatment for Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis.
