Pengaruh Aktivasi Kimia terhadap Adsorben Fly Ash Batubara untuk Penyerap Polutan Emisi Gas Buang

Abstract

Pemanfaat batubara untuk bahan bakar pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU) saat ini banyak digunakan. Pembakaran batubara menghasilkan limbah padat dalam bentuk fly ash, yang mengandung 39,70% karbon (C) dan 46,99% silika dioksida (SiO 2 ) yang berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan penyerap. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh aktivasi kimia menggunakan campuran ZnCl 2 -NaOH terhadap bahan fly ash batubara untuk diaplikasikan sebagai adsorben polutan emisi gas buang dari genset. Metode yang digunakan merupakan metode eksperimental, dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial, dua faktor yaitu NaOH taraf 0%, 10% dan 20% dan ZnCl 2 dengan taraf 0%, 4% dan 6% serta kombinasi keduanya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivator kimia ZnCL 2 4% tanpa NaOH lebih effektif dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi lainnya mengaktivasi fly ash sebagai penyerap, dengan nilai serapan I 2 tertinggi sebesar 570%, kadar air 1,15% dan kadar abu 30,08%. Berdasarkan atas besarnya daya serap terhadai I 2 , maka untuk adsorben yang diaktivasi dengan ZnCL 2 4%, menunjukkan efisiensi penyerapan gas CO sebesar 90,94%, SO 2 sebesar 72,17% dan NO2 sebesar 100%.
