Background: Delivery by cesarean section (SC) increases the risk of a surgical site infection (SSI). Therapy from health services and complementary therapy reduce the risk of infection and accelerate the wound-healing process. This study compared wound healing after SC with a turmeric extract gel and original Trigona honey. Methods: Female white rats (Rattus novergicus) with pre- and post-testing and a control group were included in this experiment, which was conducted in June-July 2022. The test animals were 56 female white rats, 2-4 months old, weighing 150–350 g. The treatment group was divided into three subgroups with application of 50% and 75% turmeric extract gel and Trigona honey. The turmeric was given twice daily, and the honey was divided into two applications of twice a day and once a day. Wounds were assessed using the Reeda Scale. Results: The fastest wound healing occurred in the group given Trigona honey twice daily. Redness, ecchymosis, and edema disappeared in this group on day 9 (score 0), and granulation tissue formed on day 9. The group that was administered 50% and 75% turmeric gel extract and Trigona honey once a day healed by days 12 and 15, respectively; all three of these interventions were better than the control group. Conclusions: Administering Trigona honey twice daily was more effective for accelerating wound healing than the 50% or 75% turmeric extract gel. Original Trigona honey has the potential to be a post-SC wound healing agent.

A wound is the loss or damage of part of the body's tissues. So far, standard handling of wounds on the skin carried out in the medical world is by giving antiseptics, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory. Wound healing is a complex process so efforts to find an effective wound healing agent continue. Medical drugs that are constantly used sometimes have unwanted side effects, for that alternative drugs are needed to reduce side effects. Medicinal plants that have the potential to heal incision wounds are torch ginger umbut, binahong leaves, tampala steel stems, yellow turmeric rhizomes, ginger leaves, red ginger rhizomes, and cassava leaves. Various preparations from the plant have the potential to heal incision wounds.

Injury is the loss or damage of some body tissues, due to a factor that interferes with the body's protective system. The results of several studies state turmeric rhizome extract is effective in wound healing. This study aims to find out the effect of turmeric extract (Curcuma longa) on wound healing in white rats. This type of research is experimental with the approach of Pre-test and Post-test group only control design, conducted November to December 2020. The samples used were turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma Longa) and male white rats. Determination of the size of the sample according to Federer's formula, so that the number of samples as many as 25 mice, the division of 4 treatment groups and 1 control group. The results of the study from the Anova test obtained a Sig value. Calculate 0.000 while sig value (α) is 0.05 which means sig value. Count sig < (α). This means that there is a real influence of the administration of turmeric extract (Curcuma Longa) on the healing of sores in mice. Turmeric ethanol extract (Curcuma Longa) has several bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins that play a role in wound healing. The optimum concentration of turmeric ethanol extract (Curcuma Longa) that can cure sores in white rats is 5%. The highest percentage of cures on k-14 days was in the positive control (Bioplacenton®) which was 95% and followed by extract 5% v/ v with a cure percentage of 90%. The creamy preparation of turmeric ethanol extract (Curcuma Longa) has an ability that is close to Bioplacenton® in healing wounds in mice.
