Latar Belakang : Effervescent merupakan salah satu bentuk sediaan denture cleanser, sediaan ini memiliki keuntungan cepat larut dan dosis tepat. Alga coklat (Sargassum sp) adalah bahan alami yang bisa digunakan untuk denture cleanser karena mengandung anti bakteri dan anti jamur. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui kekuatan transversa resin akrilik dan nilon termoplastik yang direndam dengan effervescent Sargassum Sp. Metode Penelitian: 30 sampel akrilik (A) dan 30 sampel nilon termoplastik (B) masing-masing dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok. Kelompok K(N)=tidak direndam, K(-)=aquades, K(+)=Polident, P1=effervescent Sargassum Sp 100 mg/ml, P2=effervescent Sargassum Sp 400 mg/ml. Semua kelompok sampel direndam selama 12 hari yang setara dengan pemakaian 3 tahun dengan asumsi sehari gigi tiruan direndam selama 15 menit untuk pembersihan. Pengukuran kekuatan transversa menggunakan Universal Testing Machine. Data dianalisa menggunakan Kolmogorov-Smirnov kemudian dilanjutkan uji One Way Anova dan Post Hoc LSD. Hasil Penelitian: Kekuatan transversa tertinggi pada kelompok akrilik tanpa perendaman K(N)A 82.44 mpa dan kelompok nilon termoplastik tanpa perendaman K(N)B 25.21 mpa. Pada kelompok akrilik dengan perendaman didapatkan kekuatan transversa dari yang tertinggi adalah P1A (79.75 mpa), K(+)A (78.18 mpa), P2A (75.30 mpa), K(-)A (71.13 mpa). Pada kelompok nilon termoplastik dengan perendaman didapatkan kekuatan transversa dari yang tertinggi adalah K(-)B (22.67 mpa), P1B (21.76 mpa), K(+)B (21.22 mpa), P2B (20.84 mpa). Kesimpulan: Ada penurunan signifikan kekuatan transversa pada perendaman Sargassum Sp 400 mg/ml dibandingkan dengan Sargassum Sp 100mg/ml dan Polident. Tidak ada perbedaan kekuatan trasversa antara Sargassum Sp 100 mg/ml dengan Polident.

Background: The most commonly used denture cleanser is alkaline peroxide. Long-term use of alkaline peroxide caused color change on denture base. One of which can be used as an alternative ingredient is kasturi leaf (Mangifera casturi). 50% kasturi leaf extract has antifungal properties against candida albicans. 50% kasturi leaf extract can be used as an alternative natural denture cleanser. Purpose: To know the immersion effect in 50% kasturi leaf extract on color changes of thermoplastic nylon. Methods: This study was true experimental with pretest dan posttest with control group design. 24 samples used simple random sampling with 8 samples in each groups. The sample is round sized 20mm in diameter and 3mm thickness. The treatment divided into 3 group, 50% leaf extract as treatment group, alkaline peroxide as positive control group, dan aquadest as negative control group. The color change was measured before and after immersion for five days using digital analysis tools with CIELab system. Results: One Way ANOVA dan Post Hoc Bonferroni statistical test showed significant differences (p<0,05) between the immersion groups in 50% kasturi leaf extract (6,25 ± 1,90), alkaline peroxide (4,00 ± 0,99), and aquadest (2,19 ± 0,71). Conclusion: The 50% kasturi leaf extract has effect on color changes of thermoplastic nylon denture base. The color changes in 50% kasturi leaf extract is higher than alkaline peroxide and aquadest. Polyamide resin is widely used in dentistry as a denture base material. Cinnamon burmanii has been proven to have antibacterial and antifungal substances. Therefore, it is the potential to be used as a nature denture cleanser. This study aimed to examine the effect of soaking 50% cinnamon extract solution on the surface roughness of polyamide resin. This study used 16 polyamide resin samples soaked in 50% cinnamon extract solution and 16 samples soaked in distilled water as the control group. It examined the surface roughness before and after immersion for four days and seven days. Data were analyzed using paired T-test and independent T-test. The results showed a significant difference in the surface roughness of polyamide resin before and after immersion in cinnamon solution for four days and seven days. The surface roughness change is due to the polyphenol's reaction on the polyamide resin surface, which has destroyed the polymer chain of polyamide resin.
