Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the carcass and meat characteristics of male Kacang goat fattened by complete silage made from natural grass, Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench and Pennisetum purpuphoides. Materials and Methods: This study examined 12 young male Kacang goats aged 10-12 months with an initial body weight of 10-12 kg. The livestock was divided into three groups randomly to receive feed treatments. The three treatments of this study included T1: Complete silage made from natural grass; T2: Complete silage made from S. bicolor (L.) Moench, and T3: Complete silage made from P. purpuphoides. Data were analyzed according to the analysis of variance procedure. Results: The carcass percentage of livestock T2 and T3 treatment was relatively similar but higher (p<0.05) than the T1 group. The non-carcass percentage of T2 and T3 was relatively the same but lower than T1. The water content of T1 treatment was higher (p<0.05) than T3, but relatively the same as T2 treatment. The collagen content of T2 and T3 was relatively the same but lower (p<0.05) than T1; likewise, the cholesterol of T2 and T3 treatments was relatively similar but higher than T1 treatment. The variables of slaughter and carcass weight, and non-carcass weight, meat protein content, acidity, cooking losses, water holding capacity, and tenderness were not significantly different between groups of animals. Conclusion: The use of S. bicolor (L.) Moench and P. purpuphoides as a basic forage in making complete silage has been shown to increase carcass percentage, the content (%) of fat, collagen, and cholesterol. Otherwise, the treatments have no effect on the content of pH, tenderness (kg/cm2), cooking loss (%), and water holding capacity (%) of male Kacang goat fattened. Therefore, S. bicolor (L.) Moench and P. purpuphoides plants have great potential to be developed by farmers/ ranchers as feed for goats.

The objective of study to determine the chemical meat composition of kacang male goat fed ration with different energy sources. The livestock used were 12 male goats with an average initial body weight of 11.77 kg, ranging in age from 6 to 12 months according to dental estimates. The design used was Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The each treatment was T0 = 80% Natural Grass + 20% Leucaena leucocephala ; T1 = 50% natural grass + 20% Leucaena leucocephala + 30% milled corn; T2 = 50% natural grass + 20% Leucaena leucocephala + 30% rice bran and T3 = 50% natural grass + 20% Leucaena leucocephala + 30% cassava. Variables observed in this study include meat protein content, meat fat, water content and collagen. The results of study showed that the meat protein content of male kacang goat received T1 treatment was higher (P <0.05) than the animals treatments of T0; while the animals that were treated with T0, T2 and T3 were relatively the same protein content. Conversely, the variables of meat fat, collagen and meat water content were relatively the same between treatments. It can be concluded that the use of milled corn as an energy source in male kacang goat can increase the meat protein content. However, the fat content, collagen, and water content of the meat have not shown significant differences between treatments.

Goat farms in Karangdukuh are still traditionally maintained in the yard of the house and grazed in the fields. The scale of ownership and the spread of the farm location make estrous detection so difficult, the absence of superior buck leads to a genetic quality degradation. The concept of breeding center is the provision of superior buck and mating house in one location. to support the increase of the does performance need for improvement of feed during in the breeding center, namely flushing. The partners of community engagement are farmers at Sentra Peternak Rakyat Kebon Wulangreh in Karangdukuh, Jogonalan, Klaten. It was done from April to October 2017. Activities began with socialization, followed by community learning and then was done the empowerment of farmers for built a breeding center was consisting of mating house, pasture, arteis well and electrical installation. The breeding center concept was applied after complete. Breeding center is a simple solution for estrous detecting and limitation of superior buck, more controlled does health, improvement for genetic quality and does performance, so that kids crop can be increases and finally impact on the farmer prosperity. Enggagement activities already done on target and get very postive responses. Farmers have doing together to build a breeding center area and have been used.
