Pengolahan Lindi (Leachate) Dengan Model Coagulation - Biofilter Unaerobic

Abstract: Leachate, especially from the landfill, is a pollutant that can harm human health and pollute the environment including aquatic biota, because the leachate contains various chemicals both organic and inorganic substances and also pathogen bacteria. Laboratory test by Department of Health – Yogyakarta (2001) showed that leachate from landfill had Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) of 1032 mg/liter in which this was much higher than the limit allowed (BOD = 150 mg/liter. In order to reduce BOD in leachate, a treatme… Show more

“…Leachate is a liquid that seeps through piles of waste carrying dissolved or suspended material, especially the result of the decomposition process of waste material (Damanhuri, 2010). Leachate that seeps into the soil is able to directly pollute the soil and groundwater with organic and inorganic chemical compounds (Susanto, 2004). Apart from leachate, waste decomposition also produces methane gas.…”

“…This fluid can contaminate surface water and underground water. The leachate from the landfill (FDA) is a contaminant that can damage the health of humans, pollute the environment and aquatic biota, because the leachate contains a variety of organic and inorganic chemical compounds and a number of pathogenic bacteria [1]. Although various efforts have been made to eliminate the ions / heavy metal compounds from the industrial waste for decades, but the effectiveness of their physical and chemical processes is still limited [2].…”
