The higher education system in this world has been challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic since early 2020 and has disturbed the normal operation of education services including UNISEL. Despite the difficulties in the new normal of strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed by the government, UNISEL operations especially in academic services and teaching & learning have continued as usual throughout the MCO. UNISEL has managed to sustain its operation and successfully faced the challenges. This sustainability can be well connected to the UNISEL's implementation of ISO 21001:2018 Educational Organization Management Systems (EOMS). The EOMS standard provides a general ground of education management system that can be used in any condition. The effectiveness of the EOMS implementation can be proven by the students' satisfaction survey. The instruments of this survey were divided into five aspects which are students' demographic, teaching and learning, facilities, support services, student's activities, and overall experience as a student in UNISEL. The questionnaire consists of 31 and the likert scale used was ranked from 1 to 5 for the students' satisfaction survey. The results for each aspect were then compared with previous years' data. The comparison analysis showed that there was no significant satisfaction reduction for the 2021 survey and there was a slight improvement in the teaching and learning aspects as compared to the previous year. The study proved that the EOMS standard is robust and can help education providers to sustain in challenging conditions like pandemic Covid-19.

The paper examines the scientific integration through the lens of TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid. This study aims to explore the scientific integration model of TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid in the Nahdlatul Wathan educational institution. The study was conducted at the Shaykh Zainuddin Islamic Boarding School, the management center for the Nahdlatul Wathan organization. This study is a qualitative-descriptive study. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation techniques, while data were analyzed using a sociological-historical approach. The analytical procedure used is the analysis procedure of Miles and Huberman. In this study, the scientific integration model proposed by TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid (Mawlana Shaykh) consists of three main components: 1) the integration of scientific knowledge with Islamic science and the Nahdlatul Wathan (Ke-NW-an) curriculum; 2) the institutional integration between Ma'had Darul Qur'an wal Hadith and higher education; 3) the integration of Islamic religious subjects with scientific disciplines. The findings of this study provide a foundation for policymakers to formulate more extensive and unified education strategies. This emphasises the significance of keeping an equilibrium between religious and scientific knowledge within the curriculum.

Research in Pesantren-based Higher Education: Exploring The Factors Improving Lecture's Research Performace

Integrating two different systems between higher education and pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), Pesantren-based Higher Education (PTBP) is alleged as an ideal Islamic higher education model considering its critical role in the process of integration-interconnection of science and Islamic teaching. Like other Islamic higher educations in Indonesia, PTBP represents poor organizational performance, particularly in research productivity and quality. Since research performance has the most considerable portion in the higher education performance evaluation both nationally and internationally, this study attempted to explore the factors that possibly improve lecturers' research performance at PTBP, categorized into the level of the individual, institutional and resource factors. This study involved 84 lecturers at 7 PTBP in Bogor, Indonesia, selected based on the stratified random sampling and voluntary sampling method. The collected data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results showed that only research competence positively affected research performance at the individual level, but not for work motivation and time management. Research culture and academic leadership insignificantly affected research performance. However, only high-performance work practice (HPWP) at the institutional level positively affected research performance. Meanwhile, collaboration networks at the resource level positively affected research performance, but not for university research funding. The managerial implications are further discussed in this study.
