“…Volunteers, through their interactions with the seniors, learn about compassion, empathy, sharing, listening, and the importance of friendships across generations, and many develop an interest in working with the elderly (Dellman-Jenkins, Fowler, Lambert, Fruit, & Richardson, 1994). Family members and friends feel a sense of well-being knowing that seniors are involved with young adults who engage in positive, satisfying, warm relationships that show care and concern and provide assistance to them (Mack, Salmoni, Viverais-Dressler, Porter, & Garg, 1997). Programs that are responsive to the feedback and suggestions of the participants will become stronger and improve (Boone, 1985) and be embraced by its members.…”
