Abstract: ABSTRACT:The present paper presents the social and obstetric profile of women undergoing cesarean childbirth at a public maternity hospital in the interior of São Paulo state. This is a quantitative, retrospective, descriptive study performed using documental research. The collected data refer to the period between July and December 2005, and between January and June 2006.
