Performance analysis of space modulation techniques over αμ and κμ fading channels with imperfect channel estimation

Abstract: In this paper, the performance analysis of spatial modulation and space shift keying multiple‐input multiple‐output techniques over generalised α − μ and κ − μ fading channels with imperfect channel state information at the receiver is presented. In particular, the pair‐wise error probability (PEP) of the systems under study is derived. The PEP expression jointly considers the envelope and the phase distributions of the fading channels. The obtained PEP is then used to derive an upper bound closed‐form express… Show more

“…SM has gained huge endeavor in communication systems research community, especially, in studying its average bit error probability (ABEP) performance over wireless multipath fading channels, for e.g., [3], [9]- [21]. A careful literature survey confirms that most existing works focus on evaluating the SM systems' ABEP performance assuming quasi-static fading channels, i.e., the channel temporal characteristics are assumed to be invariant for a relatively long time.…”

“…A lot of work has been done on the performance analysis of SFBC‐OFDM system over different fading channels. () In the year 2002, Lu et al proposed a low‐density parity‐check code–based space‐time code OFDM system for correlated fading channels in which performance analysis was given in terms of outage probability and OFDM word error rate. The frame error rate and outage probability of binary phase‐shift keying (BPSK) and quadrature phase‐shift keying (QPSK) modulated space‐time block code (STBC)–based and SFBC‐based OFDM system was reported by El Gamal et al The performance analysis of space‐time coding was done in the work of Garg et al with imperfect channel estimation in 2005.…”
