Performance of Prefabricated Foam Concrete as Infilled Wall Under Cyclic Lateral Loading

Abstract: Every year earthquakes occur in various regions in Indonesia because Indonesia is located near earthquake faults. The cyclic lateral loading test in the laboratory has been widely used to simulate lateral loads caused by earthquake events. This research is an experimental study on the behavior of prefabricated foam concrete as an infill wall against lateral cyclic loads. P refabricated foam concrete was used in this study to make it an alternative to brick and autoclaved lightweight concrete (ALC) blocks that … Show more

“…The main ingredient is a mortar made of cement, aggregate, and water, to which other ingredients in the form of foam agent are added. Lightweight concrete is a brittle, porous cement paste with uniform micro-air cells distributed evenly throughout the mixture [9,10]. Figure 1 shows a lightweight concrete partition.…”

“…There are usually randomly distributed bubbles in its mixture, and the concrete is characterized by high flowability, less cement usage, and more efficient aggregate application. The application of foam concrete as infill walls in RC frames has the ability to reduce the weight of the frame, and this has a valuable influence on structural global performance [7][8][9][10][11].…”
