Performance Study of New OBS Channel Scheduling Algorithms in a Multiservice Network

Abstract: This paper presents a comparative study between JET (Just Enough Time) and a number of new preemptive channel scheduling algorithms in Optical Burst Switching (OBS) with QoS (Quality of Service) requirement. In terms of performance criteria, loss rate in byte, access delay and end-toend delay are considered. A 2-state MMPP (Markov Modulated Poisson Process) traffic generator on a 14-node mesh network topology illustrating NSFNET is designed as the testbed. NS2 Network Simulation tool is used for our tests. Bur… Show more

“…Deep learning method reduces the human effect in the task, and improves the performance of the system. M. A. Aydin [14] proposed the hybrid intrusion detection system with the snort method. They use the Packet Header Anomaly Detection (PHAD) and Network Traffic Anomaly Detection (NETAD), methodology to detect the intrusion detection with low false positive rate.…”

“…The wavelengths are reserved according to time periods. The size of one reserved period is equal to the sum of the burstlength transmission duration and the offset time [11]. The most important features of JET are the reservation and the void filling technique.…”

“…A void is generated between d 1 and d 2 due to the different offset time and the bufferless character of OBS networks. Many scheduling algorithms [8,9] can insert a DB into the void between two neighbor DBs, and then effectively utilize the void to decrease the BLP and at the same time improve the data channel utilization. However, if a void is too short to accommodate a DB, it cannot be used by any DB, and is called an "ineffective void" in this paper.…”
