Perlakuan Panas Lapisan Hasil Multilapis Hardfacing Dengan Elektroda AWS A5.13 EFe2/A5.1 E7018

Abstract

Hardfacing is a common technique to increase the surface hardness of a material. This also can reach by heat treatment technique. Commonly, the hardfacing technique is applied in low carbon steel surfaces because the hardness of this material cannot be increased by heat treatment. For this reason, a combination of multilayer hardfacing processes will be carried out and followed by heat treatment to obtain optimum layer hardness. The methodology in this research is to perform multiple layers of hardfacing welding by two types of electrodes, where the first layer is with AWS A5.13 EFe2, the second layer is with AWS A5.1 E7018 and the third layer is with AWS A5.13 EFe2. After the hardfacing process is completed, then samples are heat treated until 1000ºC and quickly cooled with engine oil and palm oil. The results of this study are formed is perlite, ferrite, and martensite. The hardness of the samples untreated, engine oil cooling, and vegetable oil cooling is 468.1, 490.4, and 532.4 VHN respectively. This study concludes that the sample by cooling vegetable oil has the highest hardness because more martensite is formed. While the sample without heat treatment produces the lowest hardness due to the structure formed by ferrite and pearlite.
