Perspectiva de género y condiciones de aprendizajes virtuales en pandemia

Abstract

The adaptations that higher education had to incorporate as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic revealed several weaknesses, shortcomings, and vulnerabilities present in the teaching-learning process; likewise, the student's difficulties in successfully carrying out their professional training were made evident. Much research, even before this public health emergency, has shown gaps in education in regard to gender, with women often facing the greatest impediments regarding access and opportunities. Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine the level of association between gender and the five variables that make up the conditions of virtual learning in times of pandemic at the Universidad Técnica del Norte (Ecuador). It is a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study; the universe is 11374; the probabilistic sample is 2,895 students; the instrument used showed a reliability level of 0.8 (Cronbach's Alpha). A statistically significant association (p<.05) was found between the gender of the UTN students and the five variables of learning conditions. It was observed that female students regularly face less favorable study conditions than their male peers. Las adaptaciones que tuvo que incorporar la educación superior a raíz de la pandemia del COVID-19 revelaron varias debilidades, falencias y vulnerabilidades presentes en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje; asimismo, se evidenciaron las dificultades del estudiante para llevar a cabo con éxito su formación profesional. Muchas investigaciones, incluso antes de esta emergencia sanitaria, han mostrado brechas en la educación con respecto al género, siendo las mujeres quienes enfrentan los mayores impedimentos en cuanto al acceso y las oportunidades. Por ello, el objetivo de esta investigación es determinar el nivel de asociación entre el género y las cinco variables que conforman las condiciones del aprendizaje virtual en tiempos de pandemia en la Universidad Técnica del Norte (Ecuador). Es un estudio cuantitativo, transversal, descriptivo y correlacional; el universo es 11374; la muestra probabilística es de 2895 estudiantes; el instrumento utilizado presentó un nivel de confiabilidad de 0,8 (Alfa de Cronbach). Se encontró una asociación estadísticamente significativa (p<.05) entre el género de los estudiantes de la UTN y las cinco variables de condiciones de aprendizaje. Se observó que las alumnas se enfrentan regularmente a condiciones de estudio menos favorables que sus compañeros varones.
