Abstract:The authors interview life sciences faculty instructors to explore their motivation to provide accommodations for students with disabilities. They find that faculty motivation is largely influenced by personal belief that providing accommodations is “the right thing to do,” and argue that this is an inequitable system for both students and faculty.
This review synthesizes DBER literature focusing on disability and explains how this research has been guided by different theoretical models created by disability theorists.
