The latter has its earliest occurrence in the stephanephorus Concurrent Range Zone of the Lower Codroy Group of Asbian age (Utting and Giles, 2004) and is known to occur in Langsettian rocks of Nova Scotia (personal observation, J.U., 1997).The Cleary seam contained similar taxa to the Shears seam (Table 1), but preservation of palynomorphs is poorer (Hyde et al 1991).
