Pharmacognostical and Phytochemical evaluation of Ventilago calyculata Tul. (Bark)

Abstract: Background: Ventilago calyculata Tul. ('kevati'), is found throughout India as climbing shrub. It is widely used in various traditional system of medicine. Objective: In the present work pharmacognostical standardization has been developed for the systematic identification of the bark of Ventilago calyculata. Phenols and flavonoids were also quantified. Materials and Methods: Morphological, microscopical and phytochemical studies were performed. Various physicochemical parameters conforming the identity, quali… Show more

“…Water soluble extractive value was 20.8% for Celosia argentia aerial parts (Ghorpade et al, 2012); 18.23% for Manilkara zapota (Nagani et al, 2012). The extractive value was minimum in petroleum ether (0.52); as also reported for Cordia dichotoma leaf (0.6%) (Rahman and Hussain, 2015); Terminalia bellerica leaf (0.9%) (Menpara et al, 2014) and Ventilago calyculata bark (2%) (Kumar et al, 2015).…”
