Pharmacokinetics of Eight Flavonoids in Rats Assayed by UPLC-MS/MS after Oral Administration of Drynariae rhizoma Extract

Abstract: As a traditional Chinese medicine, Drynariae rhizoma (Kunze ex Mett.) J. Sm. has been used to treat osteoporosis and bone resorption for 2500 years. Based on the previous study and literature references, flavonoids were proved to be the most abundant and main active compounds of Drynariae rhizoma for osteoporosis treatment. In order to make good and rational use of Drynariae rhizoma in future, a rapid, sensitive, and selective ultraperformance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method was dev… Show more

“…Natural compounds and their derivatives have attracted increasing attention due to their inherent chemical diversity, and a number of them have become potential drug candidates ( 11 ). Drynaria rhizome, also known as Gu-Sui-Bu, is a common plant widely distributed throughout southern China ( 12 ). The roots of Drynaria rhizome were conventionally regarded as a medicine against osteoporosis and bone resorption, while recently it has increasingly been used to treat neurodegenerative diseases, such as AD ( 13 ).…”

“…Drynariae Rhizome, commonly known as Gu-Sui-Bu, is a usual plant widely distributed in southern China [17,18]. In the past thousands of years, the roots of Drynariae Rhizoma was conventionally regarded as a medicine against osteoporosis and bone resorption, while recently it was increasingly used to treat neurodegeneration diseases, such as AD [19,20].…”

“…Kaempferol (KP, PubChem CID: 5280863) is a flavonoid identified in various natural products and traditional Chinese medicine like Drynariae Rhizoma [ 6 ]. KP has been reported to have the curative effect of treating SOP by acting on both osteoblasts and osteoclasts, which may exert osteogenic and antiosteoclastic effects [ 7 ].…”
