Phenomenology and mechanisms of consciousness: Considering the theoretical integration of phenomenology with a mechanistic framework

Abstract: In this article, I consider the possibility of a theoretical integration of phenomenology and a mechanistic framework. First, I discuss the mechanistic model of explanation and the idea of theoretical integration in science as opposed to unification. I argue that the mechanistic model of explanation is preferable for integrating the cognitive sciences, although it is limited and in the case of consciousness studies should be complemented with phenomenology. Second, I examine three possible approaches to the in… Show more

“…This study uses the methodphenomenological approach. Pokropski (2019); Vagle & Hofsess (2016) argues that phenomenology aims to find an object from the consciousness of the subject. In this study, phenomenology was chosen as the method because it is most suitable for achieving the goal of defining the role of household accounting (household accounting) in financial management and how the awareness, knowledge and readiness of a family in facing the COVID-19 pandemic crisis (Goldberger & Wise, 2000;Gallagher & Sørensen, 2006).…”

“…There has also been a body of work that argues against this idea, suggesting socially nested, phenomenological understandings of human functioning (Feuer, 2002;Mowat et al, 2018). The contrast between the quantitative 'how' and qualitative 'why' of research in human consciousness points to the classical argument between the quest for replicability, and the search for anomalies (Pokropski, 2019).…”

“…Pada hakikatnya penelitian fenome nologi adalah untuk menganalisis dan me mahami data kemudian membuat penaf siran data dengan membuat makna dari data tersebut (Correa & Larrinaga, 2015;Pokropski, 2019). Pemahaman akan data se lanjutnya harus direfleksikan ke dalam teori fenomenologi yang nantinya akan menjadi alat analisis untuk memaknai seorang kon sultan bisnis dalam mengambil keputusan bisnis pada suatu perusahaan.…”
