Photocatalytic Nanojunction of Cobalt Ferrite Anchored Sulfonated Graphene for Reduction of Nitrophenols

Abstract: A coprecipitation method was employed to synthesize a CoFe 2 O 4 anchored sulfonated graphene nanojunction for visible light photocatalytic reduction of 2-nitrophenol, 4-nitrophenol, and 2,4,6trinitrophenol in the presence of NaBH 4 . The effect of the extent of anchoring of CoFe 2 O 4 on the catalytic performance of the nanojunction was investigated. Photoreduction of all the nitrophenols was studied at different pH range. The performance of the catalyst in the presence of different cations, anions, and scave… Show more

“…The formation of Ca(BH 4 ) 2 promoted the release of BH 4 − ions, thereby speeding up the reduction rates. 70,71 Despite having a stronger Lewis acid character than Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ exhibited a lower reduction rate as compared to Ca 2+ . This contrasting behavior is attributed to cation coordination ability.…”

“…It was inferred from the plot that the MoS 2 /SG/CuNP-modified electrode is more stable compared to the MoS 2 /SG electrode. 67 To evaluate the selectivity and performance of the electrode, CV with ions like K + , Na + , Zn 2+ , Cl − , NO 3− , and SO 4 2− (1 mM solutions each) was recorded in both the analytes (DA and 5-HT) under ambient conditions (Fig. S7(d), ESI†).…”
