Photocatalytic Properties of Silver Oxide Loaded on Bismuth Vanadate

Abstract: In order to enhance the photocatalytic activity of BiVO4, the Ag2O loaded on BiVO4is studied. In this study, Ag2O loaded on BiVO4was prepared with Bi(NO3)3, NH4VO3and C6H8O7as raw materials by sol-gel method. Influences of the sintering temperature and sintering time were studied on photocatalytic activity, crystal composition and molecular structure. The molecules of matter were characterized by FTIR. Both the phase transition in the sintering process and the influence of Ag2O loaded on crystal structure and … Show more

“…45 Moreover, the two peaks at 1019 cm −1 and 1140 cm −1 correlate to the V]O bond's stretching vibration. 46,47 The broad band corresponds to the bending vibrations of H-O-H in the range of 1300-1700 cm −1 , whereas the broad peak centered about 3430 cm −1 belongs to the stretching vibrations of OH, which can be caused by the physical absorption of moisture. 48 The FTIR spectrum for doped samples does not show any signicant change in comparison with the host.…”

“…TiO 2 has suitable band position for photocatalytic solar fuel production, but absorb only UV light (about 5% of the energy in the solar spectrum) [5], which seriously hindered the promotion and application in the field of photocatalytic oxidation of titanium dioxide. In recent years, developing visible-light responsive photocatalysts is the most important direction for this field, BiVO 4 is a kind of visible-light responsive photocatalysts, with the advantage of a suitable band-gap energy and the utilization of visible-light [6].…”
